A Celebration or a Crazy-Action

Christmas Eve....another day of celebration...yet it turned out to be another Disastrous Night at the place I dwelled in. Why are people being surrounded by insanity and violence these days. Isn't it a day to enjoy and to celebrate. These minority of people always like to take this day as an opportunity to break the mood of this holy day. It is fine to enjoy yourself, but to the extend to vandalise the public properties or putting your wilderness on another human being...that is too much. I think the authority should ban this people from having a public party again. They should be locked up during every eve or actual day of a streetparty as a punishment. Having this people around is not bringing in the fun...but it brings in grunt.

Nowadays, as I grow older. I tend not to spend so much time battling myself through the crowd for those countdown celebration. Unless it is a control/secured kind of gathering where decent people are attending such functions. To me, this type of event is more suitable to teenagers. Having a in-house/in-club event would be more suitable for us...enjoying the food we like, drinking the liquid we prefer and playing the game we used to play. At least, we paid for the event and hoping that things will not turn out as ugly as the free streetparty in town. Nevertheless, I believe this is much better than meeting strangers on the street that is so strange that it might turn out to be a threat to us.
I came around a story of a friend who end up losing his wallet just by walking from one end of the crowd to the other. Isn't that sad? May be this incident has become so common that it happened almost on every countdown's event. Are you one of them? Share your story...

AoW

Making the decision could be the worst thing to do. But each of us could not escape from taking this action. To be able to walk through this thing called LIFE...we just have to bear with it...

Recently, I heard a friend who has just submitted her resignation letter for a company that she has been working for more than a decade. It must be a very difficult decision to make. At this point of time, it is the mind that play an important role in staying firm with the decision. The situation is like your brain tells you one thing and your heart tells you the other. So which one should we follow? That is what I called "DILEMMA". We used to hit this whenever we want to act on what we THINK is right and not knowing what future will turn out to be.
In fact, we actually know what to do but we need confirmation of our decision. Hence, we used to end up seeking advice from our friends, family members or people we trusted. We considered them as our Angel of Wisdom(AoW).

I always believe that each of us are searching for one of this AoW. These people can really comfort us pretty well. The main thing is we TRUST these people. If you are the religious type, then your AoW might be your priest. Though his/her advice might not be the best, but we take it with thought. To cut it short, it is us that decide to take the advice or not. It is whether we want to open up our mind to absorb what is said. Hence, it is all up to US. Our mind must be strong to know what decision to make.

So have you found your AoW? These are people you wanted to talk with the most when your are in DILEMMA. Or just listening to their voice, it just clear your worries (may be not completely but more or less).....

RISK - Chapter 4 - 心聲

080308, MA-LAI-SI-AHHHHH - The day has come where the people of the nation putting their right into action. All the unhappiness, the unsatisfaction, the impatient, the ambitious, the ignorant, the imperfection, the unfair, the unspeakable, the unbreakable......were answered.
But what does it got to do with RISK?
The result of this event has actually taught me 4 BIG lessons :
- Being a incumbent for the past 20 years does not mean you are at LOW RISK.
- Making a decision for the nation is a RISKY act.
- Be responsible on the decision made.
- Being a winner does not mean you are good, it is because you are given a chance to change.

Many people like to be at the TOP, but do you really know how it feel to be at this level? There are pressure and stress once you reached there. They must always buck up to ensure they never drop. The consequence of falling is really too much to bear. It might take ages to climb up the 'ladder of success', but it only take a minute to slip and fall. No one can reach the top without the helping hands. These are the people we must cherish and appreaciate most. Always be thoughtful and stay alert as RISK is always there to hunt you when you overlook!

Many are unhappy of the G, so they got no choice but to make the CROSS on the O. So what is the main reason of the decision made? Is it because I do not like G so I make the other choice OR I believe O can do better? Try to answer this question while leaving behind the Ms.Anger and Mr.Dissatisfaction. Are we making the right choice? Is this the risk worth taking? You decide because You made the decision. If B + M + M required 20 years to build up and maintain the ALLIANCE BRIDGE, do you think D + P + P can do it in 5 years time? Personally, I cannot imagine how the D can build the bridge with P&P when their "business" goals are totally different. Can we make a person from the 50s to mix with people from the 80s? Is there a common destination to go? Anyway, the failure of BMM is a reminder to them that they have done something but there are still MANY rooms to improve. And the winning of DPP is a sign that we want you to prove to us, we are making the right choice. We are still watching, please do something or else we do not know what to choose in 5 years time from now.

Let us open up our mind again. Our job does not end by Making the CROSS on the paper and dropping it into the BOX. Our job is to UNITE and start to Make a Difference. Let start it from our HOME, OFFICE and then the COUNTRY. Long live those who can make a change. We are looking forward these coming 5 years for a bigger IMPROVEMENT.

RISK - Chapter 3 - Confirmation

As the time passes by, the journey towards the career goal continues. After all the hassles of searching of new jobs and getting works done in the new place, the time of evaluation is here. Many people has their own perception on the word 'PROBATION' which is written in their employment letter. To me, it is just another EXAMINATION in life where it tests our ability to perform. And then we have 'CONFIRMATION'. The definition of the word can vary from....

- changing your job status from "TEMPORARY" to "PERMANENT" staff OR
- it is the day where I passed the first stage of the superior's scrutinisation. OR
- it is the time where I do not have to worry about getting SACKED too fast OR
- it is the time to celebrate because I finally got the JOB....

The list can go on and on but to me 'CONFIRMATION' is just another beginning.
My feeling of going through the PROBATION could be described like a Stock Exchange. There are UPs and DOWNs. The duration of 3-6 months is so critical that it makes our heart to work extra fast. That timeline can be considered very short to really judge an employee. I have been going through the probation as well as evaluating someone during their probation. Being an superior to evaluate a new member of the organisation is not easy after all. Judging from their performance towards work and attitude in the job scope are so critical to ensure this person really fit in the organistion. On the other hand, as a new employee under probation, I felt nervous and trying to perform the best in order to ensure I secure a place in the organisation.

Unfortunately, many people thought this process is just a way how the COMPANY evaluates us. But have you ever thought that PROBATION is also a period where we evaluate the COMPANY and OURSELVES as well? If you do follow my first and second part of "RISK', this is just another risk deciding factor in our profession. Since we already signed the offer letter, we are at risk. And if we do not take the probation period to analyse our own performance and the company, it will be another waste of time. Of course there are PROs and CONs in the company. Questions like

- is this the environment that i wanted to work in for the coming 2-3 years?
- am I able to further contribute to the company that pay me this amount of salary?
- can I keep up the same performance during and after my probation? (many people only perform well during probation but lack behind after that, this is really bad.)

If we could answer those questions with strong supportive reason, then YOU are RIGHT for the job. As I have mentioned earlier, CONFIRMATION is just another beginning. This is the time where we set our career goal and to grow with the company. It is not a personal issue anymore, it is about TEAMWORK. Think big and keeping the performance up to the standard so we could further improve towards our career path.

So think again when you are still in your PROBATION period. Do the necessary evaluation and not just spend time only to worry about whether to get CONFIRMATION. At the end of the day, you need to FEEDBACK your concern instead of your superior telling what he thinks about you.

to be continued.....
